Halloween Reads

Once again, the awesome Lauren from Wonderless Reviews is hosting a Halloween Readathon during the whole month of October. The best thing about it? There are no rules! She has set some challenges and you decide on which to try your hand at. I’ll attempt just a few because I know I won’t be able to complete them all this year, especially since I’m already running late.

If you are looking for some inspiration for your own Halloween reads, you might want to check these out:

Top Ten Tuesday: Characters I’d name a pet after

Another week, another Top Ten Tuesday, a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. The topic today is all about characters’ names, so I’m going with characters I’d name a pet after. Fun fact: I actually named my cat Theo after seeing the name on the spine of a book, although it referred to Vincent van Gogh’s brother and not a fictional character. Maybe for a future pet I’ll consider any of these. Let’s check them out!

Halloween Readathon | My TBR

Lauren @Wonderless Reviews is hosting a Halloween Readathon this October and I’m really excited to join in! The best thing about it is how chill it is. She gave out some challenges and you can try and accomplish as many as you’d like, but it really depends on what you want to do. I’ll be joining in on Twitter using the hashtag #HalloweenWR to show my progress or simply make any comment related to my Halloween reads. If you want to check which books I chose, keep on reading.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books on my fall TBR list

Another week, another Top Ten Tuesday, a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. The topic today is books on my fall TBR list. I’m leaving out my Halloween reads because I’ll be participating in a readathon and creating a different post for it. But let’s check the rest out!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books on my TBR since the beginning of time

Another week, another Top Ten Tuesday, a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. The topic was “Ten Books That Have Been On Your Shelf (Or TBR) From Before You Started Blogging That You STILL Haven’t Read Yet”, but since I just started 3 months ago I decided to take it a little further and go for books I’ve had on my TBR since the beginning of time. Some of this books have been on my TBR for more than 10 years, others for just a year or so. Compiling this list was sort of terrible. I felt ashamed of leaving these poor books on my TBR for so long, but the time has not been right for them! Let’s check them out.

Limiting our TBRs

As readers, we are constantly discovering new books. Sometimes people introduce them to us and other times we find them ourselves by sheer luck or through our own research. Either way, it’s a never-ending process of adding books to our mental, digital or written lists of books to read. The notorious TBRs.

I never gave much thought to what I added to my ‘to be read’ list on Goodreads until I saw someone on Twitter commenting they were ‘cleaning up’ theirs. That got me thinking in all the books I’ve added that I’m never really going to read, which are a nuisance when I’m looking for something that I actually want to pick up. So today I want to discuss if we should limit the books we add to our TBRs or if it’s better to add any book that calls to us, no matter how small the reason might be.

Tome Topple Readathon TBR

Sam from Thoughts on Tomes is hosting the first ever Tome Topple Readathon from June 5th to June 19th. The Readathon consists in reading big books (500+ pages) and reading as many pages as possible. The challenge is tackling those books that we are sometimes afraid to pick up because they’re really long. Today (June 4th) is the last day to sign up if you want to participate in an international giveaway of a 500+ book. You don’t have to sign up to participate in the readathon, that’s just for the giveaway.

To make things even more fun, Sam has created some challenges that you can try to accomplish if you want, although it’s not mandatory. Keep in mind that you can pick something that fits more than one challenge.

  1. Read more than one big book.
  2. Take a graphic novel break.
  3. Read a tome that is part of a series.
  4. Read over 500 pages in one week.
  5. Read an adult novel.

I decided to join in and here’s the list of books I’m hoping to get through:
